The Skills and Training College
The College’s activities are structured around three groups of people:
- doctoral students: as an extension of the Passport for Open Science, the College supports the development of training and new educational resources adapted to doctoral students;
- research support staff: the college’s aims are to contribute to the identification of professional or transversal open science skills, to support the emergence of new job profiles and their formalised implementation within organisations and to encourage the development of training and self-training resources;
- directors of research units: the College is working on a guide to open science training and would like to include feedback and success stories from teams that have developed an ambitious approach to open science. The aim of this guide is to help researchers or teacher-researchers with responsibilities in their unit (unit directors, team leaders, open science officers, etc.) to adapt to open science.
Joanna Janik is a senior research engineer in charge of STI training projects at the Scientific and Technical Information Department of the CNRS.
She has worked in different departments in scientific and technical information. She has also been in charge of documentary networks such as Isidora and Renatis for several years.
She was co-pilot of the BSN9 segment, of training, skills and uses. Thus, she took part in carrying out the DoRANum project, which has now become a digital training service for research data.
Romain Féret is the director of Média Normandie, the Regional Library Careers Training Centre for the Normandy region. As such he designs a range of training courses for staff at university and local libraries in Normandy.
Prior to this, he was the head of the open science department of the University of Lille’s libraries. Since 2016, he has been involved in numerous initiatives related to open science. In particular, he was a member of the Committee for Open Science’s Research Data College and led the Data group within Couperin’s Open Science Working Group. In 2021, he became a co-pilot for the Committee for Open Science’s Skills and Training College.
