The socioeconomics of scientific publication
Research project on the transformation of scientific journals’ publication models in the era of open access.
This Mines ParisTech Center for the Sociology of Innovation (CSI) research project focuses on how major publishers and users of scientific publishing (university libraries for example) are handling the transition from the traditional subscription-based journal access model to different open access models in which tariff barriers to journal access are removed.
The survey is centred on exploring and analyzing public documents including recent “big deals” signed in different European countries between publishers in the scientific publishing market and national institutions in charge of negotiating access to journals.
