The French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) has made the first document in France officially presenting the EOSC available. There is also an English version.

The EOSC is defined as:

  • a portal providing European researchers with access to scientific data, services and e-infrastructures to analyse data;
  • a community, a space for researchers and engineers from all scientific fields to share data, services and skills. Services to store, manage, analyse and reuse data for research, innovation and education can be registered on the platform;
  • a partnership in the framework of Horizon Europe, governed by the European Commission, the Member States/Associated Countries and the EOSC Association where users and providers are represented.

The EOSC is a Horizon Europe-funded programme. For 2021/2022, 12 calls are planned with total funding of €126.5M.

Those working in French research can benefit both as users and contributors to help give their research work more visibility and impact. Taking part in this European infrastructure means they are fully involved in opening science in accordance with the third axis of the National Plan for Open Science “to be part of a sustainable, European and international open science dynamic”.

EOSC France relays information about the EOSC to the French community and makes a list available of key documents, a sitography and a schedule of events. There is also a mailing list.

Also, the presentations and discussions from the first EOSC France national workshop which took place on two days in February 2021 can be found on the event website.
