The National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology (Inria) is organising a new session of their MOOC entitled ‘Reproducible research II: Practices and tools for managing computations and data. This will run from May 5th to September 10th 2025 on the FUN platform.

The course is available in English only and introduces the general concepts and how they translate into practical solutions through practical teaching sessions and the use of state-of-the-art open source tools. It is composed of three modules – on data management, software management and calculation management – combining online lectures, practical sessions, text-based course materials and many exercises to give trainees a hands-on experience of the tools and methods presented.

This second session takes into account participants’ comments in the first session and enriches the course with, among other things, the following:

  • quizzes to accompany the videos;
  • summaries of each unit;
  • a mind map;

Following on from the success of the ‘Reproducible research: methodological principles for transparent science‘ MOOC and the first session of the ‘Reproducible research II: Practices and tools for managing computations and data‘, the authors are continuing along the same lines and tackling the issues of massive data and complex computations. These two MOOCs are complementary to each other and provide a coherent training programme on the subject. They were produced with support from the National Fund for Open Science for Open Science.
