Transparency to Sustain Open Science Infrastructure (TSOSI) is a data platform that lists funding contributions to open science infrastructure. This project was itself funded by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR) and has been led by Université Grenoble Alpes since September 2024.

The beta version of the tsosi.org platform was launched in June 2025 and includes funding data from 47 countries for the DOAJ, DOAB, PeerCommunityIn, SciPost and OPERAS infrastructures, with new infrastructures to be gradually added.

TSOSI’s primary objective is to help drive financial contributions to open science infrastructures so these are considered inherently necessary for the proper functioning of research. TSOSI thus publicises all organisations that contribute financially to these infrastructures. It also aims to help make funding open science infrastructures a common practice to contribute to their sustainability. The idea is simple – the more funders are flagged, the more new funders will be attracted. In the context of open science, the TSOSI initiative contributes to the transparency of costs and contributions related to open science infrastructures.

TSOSI collects, enriches and structures funding data for open science infrastructures so users can easily find out more about the open science funding landscape. For its launch, data were provided by the infrastructures themselves and semi-manually enriched with ROR and Wikidata identifiers. A new channel is planned for 2025-2026 which will enable institutions to declare the funding they provide directly.

The project’s advisory committee is currently made up representatives of SCOSS, DOAJ, DOAB and OPERAS, while PCI, SCiPost and Couperin make up a user group alongside this.
