CoARA National Chapters Forum: Defining Success

Forum

Key Insights

The Defining Success for National Chapters forum aims to build a shared understanding of diverse pathways to impact and outline actional roadmaps for NCs. Moreover, the event offers an important opportunity for networking and mutual exchange between National Chapter (NC) Co-Chairs, the CoARA Steering Board, and the CoARA Secretariat.

As National Chapters (NCs) reach their two-year anniversaries, the forum invites reflections from NC Co-Chairs on how they define the markers of success over their initial two-year terms and of the implementation of the Agreement over its five-year term. By forming country-level communities of practice, National Chapters contribute to a diverse yet cohesive CoARA and to aligning the shared goals of the Agreement within national and regional contexts. Marking the two-year milestone, the Defining Success National Chapters Forum will offer an opportunity for Co-Chairs to expand on what success means to them in their specific, country-level contexts and the broader implementation of the Agreement.

In this context, the forum will focus on the necessary conditions for realising systemic change, including social dimensions, activities and outputs, and resources. Within these core areas, discussions will centre around the following guiding questions:

  • Social Dimensions
    • Who are the key stakeholders?
    • How can NCs engage them to drive change?
    • What behavioural shifts are expected and at what levels?
  • Activities & Outputs
    • What tools, processes, and strategies are essential for reform?
    • How can NCs ensure their intiatives are effective and impactful?
  • Resources
    • Are the planned activities feasible?
    • What resources are required to realise their goals?

The forum will feature presentations from each of the 16 active National Chapters, along with presentations from the CoARA Secretariat and CoARA Steering Board members, and a series of plenary discussions. If you are a National Chapter Co-Chair, please be sure to register for the hybrid-event. We hope to see many of you in Bonn, but the hybrid event will also accommodate those joining in online.
