The Gates Foundation has joined forces with GRIOS to promote open science throughout the world
The Gates Foundation has joined the Global Research Initiative on Open Science (GRIOS) as a new funder. This partnership is a key milestone in the promotion of evidence-based open science.
The Gates Foundation works to scale up innovations to promote access to science, and has now committed to providing €150,000 to GRIOS over a three-year period. This support will help reinforce and expand GRIOS’s activities, which involve drawing on existing scientific research findings to promote the advancement of open science practices and policies.
The Gates Foundation is supporting GRIOS to:
- Build capacity to review existing research into open science
- Provide rigorous analyses for stakeholders
- Help inform global policies and practices
- Fill current gaps in knowledge on open science
This new partnership will also enable GRIOS to expand its reach to North America, which is seen as crucial for the development of a global initiative.
